A local woodworker was having issues with his Pendant CNC Router. He was quoted $700 for a new pendant and programming. The screen was displaying blank even though the CNC was powered on. I haven’t done much woodworking since high school woodshop however I told him to let me have a look at it. After testing that the circuit protection on the board was fine I looked to other causes. I was able to fix the pendant by cleaning and re-seating the contacts between the LCD and the LCD sub-board. My current working theory is that sawdust had found its way into this connection as there was some very fine sawdust inside the pendant. Otherwise it could have been that the screws that keep the plastic case closed loosened due to vibration over time.
